Documentation and test basis

Technical documentation for professional installations

Flow Loop is developed for professional environments where documentation, safety, and operational reliability are essential to the decision.

On this page, you will find a complete overview of relevant approvals, standards, tests, and safety functions that are important for assessing, planning, installing, and operating Flow Loop.

The page includes information about CE marking, installation in wet rooms, water quality, water purification, safety functions, and documentation of environmental impact.

CE-marked product

Flow Loop is CE-marked and developed for installation in shower facilities where electrical, water, and wet room requirements must be handled correctly.

Documented water quality

Flow Loop meets the requirements for EU Excellent Bathing Water Quality 2006/7/EC. During recirculation, the water is treated with a pre-filter, microfilter, and UV light.

Operational safety

The system is developed with safety functions that, among other things, protect against untreated water, water overflow, scalding, and the mixing of drinking water with recirculated shower water.

Installation in wet rooms

Approved for relevant wet room zones

In accordance with DS/HD 60364-7-701:2007 for electrical installations in wet rooms, the following applies:

  • The shower and shower panel are approved for installation in Zone 1
  • The power supply is approved for installation in Zone 2
  • The Flow Loop shower panel must not be installed in water, meaning wet room Zone 0. The product is therefore not suitable for installation in bathtubs, spas, or pools.

The shower panel may only be installed indoors and in frost-free rooms.

Water quality and purification

Tested bathing water quality

Flow Loop meets the requirements for:

EU Excellent Bathing Water Quality 2006/7/EC

During recirculation, the water is treated in several steps:

Filter 1: Pre-filter 400 μm
Filter 2: Microfilter 10 μm
Filter 3: UV light, 253 nm log 4–6

The UV light reduces pathogenic bacteria, and the system is designed so that recirculation cannot be activated if the UV light fails.

Safety functions

Developed for safe and stable operation

Flow Loop includes several safety functions that are relevant for professional installations.

Protection against untreated water:
If the UV light fails, recirculation cannot be activated.

Protection against water overflow:
Flow Loop’s drain grate is equipped with overflow protection.

Separation between drinking water and recirculated shower water:
Air gap in accordance with EN1717.

Protection against scalding and unstable water temperature:
Safety and comfort in accordance with EN1111, sections 13.2–13.5.

Reports and documentation

Test basis and environmental impact

Flow Loop has documentation for technical function, water quality, and environmental impact.

The NIRAS report documents water and energy savings in different scenarios, while the LCA report assesses the product’s overall environmental impact throughout its life cycle.

Flow Loop’s material also states that the technology has been under development and extensive testing since 2017 in collaboration with DTU, and that the results have been verified by Eurofins. This wording should only be used if Flow Loop still wishes to highlight DTU and Eurofins on this page.

Flow Loop as a concrete sustainability initiative in professional employee facilities

At a major Danish company, Flow Loop is installed as part of the work to reduce the environmental footprint of daily operations. The solution has been highlighted in both the annual report and DGNB documentation and serves as a concrete example of how shower facilities can be included in ESG work, resource savings, and more sustainable employee facilities.
