Environment & sustainability
Tested for sustainability
Documentable reduction in water, energy, and CO₂ consumption
Flow Loop is developed for professional environments where water and energy consumption affect both operation, economy, and sustainability reporting. By recirculating the warm shower water during use, the need for both new water and energy for heating is reduced.
NIRAS’ analysis shows that a traditional shower is calculated to use 96 liters of water, while a shower using the LOOP function uses 17.5 liters. This corresponds to a water saving of 81.8% per shower under the assumptions used.
Energy consumption per shower is reduced by 69% at the same time, because far less new water needs to be heated. This makes Flow Loop relevant for hotels, housing associations, businesses, institutions, and property projects where shower facilities form part of the overall resource consumption.
Tested for sustainability
Documented savings with Flow Loop
NIRAS has measured the savings that can be achieved by using Flow Loop. The calculations show that the LOOP function can significantly reduce both water and energy consumption in each individual shower.
For professional stakeholders, this means Flow Loop can be used as a concrete initiative in work with operational optimization, ESG, CO₂ reduction, and more efficient resource use in buildings.
Lower energy consumption also contributes to lower CO₂ emissions, while the reduced water consumption can help reduce pressure on groundwater resources and sewage systems.
Lower water consumption
Flow Loop recirculates the warm shower water during the shower. NIRAS’ calculation shows that water consumption can be reduced from 96 liters to 17.5 liters per shower — a saving of 81.8% under the assumptions used.
Lower energy consumption
When the warm water is reused, far less new water needs to be heated. That is why NIRAS’ calculations show an energy saving of 69% per shower when using the LOOP function.
Documented effect
Flow Loop’s environmental impact is documented in both the NIRAS report and an LCA assessment. The analyses show that the greatest environmental benefit occurs during the use phase, where water and energy consumption are reduced.
From building to portfolio
Savings that can be scaled across installations
When one shower reduces water and energy consumption, the effect can be seen in the individual building. When the solution is implemented across several shower facilities, the potential becomes significantly greater.
NIRAS has calculated that if recirculating showers such as Flow Loop were implemented in all Danish homes, household water consumption could be reduced by 29%. This corresponds to approximately 73 million m³ of water per year.
For professional stakeholders, the calculation shows that shower facilities can be a relevant area to focus on when reducing the overall resource consumption of buildings. This applies to existing operations, renovation projects, and new construction.
Life cycle assessment
A solution with documented environmental impact over time
Flow Loop is more complex to produce than a traditional shower. That is why it is important to look at the entire product life cycle — from production and materials to everyday use over time.
The LCA assessment shows that the LOOP shower is more sustainable overall than a traditional shower. This is mainly due to the difference in the use phase, where Flow Loop reduces the need for both new water and heating of shower water.
For professional decision-makers, this is relevant because the environmental impact does not only depend on the product itself, but on the documented savings achieved through ongoing use.
Documentation
A concrete basis for ESG and sustainability work
Flow Loop can support work with ESG, CO₂ reduction, and documentable sustainability initiatives in buildings.
The NIRAS report provides a calculation basis for water and energy savings, while the LCA assessment highlights the product’s overall environmental impact over time. Together, the reports provide a more qualified decision-making basis for professional stakeholders who need to assess operation, investment, and sustainability impact.
Flow Loop can therefore be relevant in projects focused on lower resource consumption, documentation, green transition, and more efficient building operation.

Recommendation
Flow Loop as a concrete sustainability initiative in professional employee facilities
At a major Danish company, Flow Loop is installed as part of the work to reduce the environmental footprint of daily operations. The solution has been highlighted in both the annual report and DGNB documentation and serves as a concrete example of how shower facilities can be included in ESG work, resource savings, and more sustainable employee facilities.
