Flow Loop in real hotel rooms

Innovative shower solution tested at Comwell Hotel

Comwell Hotel in Holte tested Flow Loop’s water-saving LOOP shower over a period of 14 months. Two prototype units were installed in selected guest rooms to evaluate performance, user experience, maintenance requirements, and daily operation in a hotel environment.

During and after the test period, interviews were conducted with the hotel’s staff, including Hotel Director Peter Feddersen as well as employees from the cleaning and reception departments. The interviews provided valuable insight into how the system worked from both the guests’ and the operational perspective.

The case shows how Flow Loop can be integrated into a professional hotel environment where shower comfort, operational reliability, cleaning, maintenance, and resource savings need to work together.

Key experiences from the Comwell case

Installation

The installation was completed within the target of 3 hours, and the showers were integrated into the hotel’s existing infrastructure.

User experience

Guests rated the showers positively, and the reception received no complaints. This was an important success indicator for hotel management.

Maintenance

The cleaning staff experienced filter changes and cleaning as simple and manageable. Maintenance added around 5 minutes of work per month per unit.

Operational stability

The units operated normally throughout the entire test period and proved reliable in the hotel’s daily use.

Combine sustainability with a strong guest experience

Sustainability and guest experience

The purpose of the pilot project was to investigate whether Flow Loop could combine lower water and energy consumption with a shower experience that meets hotel guests’ expectations.

Guests were encouraged to try the showers and share their feedback, while hotel staff gained experience with daily maintenance and technical operation.

The results showed that the showers could be integrated into the hotel’s existing operation without problems. Guests appreciated the intuitive design and the sustainable concept, while the cleaning staff found the maintenance process simple and manageable.

The project therefore demonstrated Flow Loop’s potential to reduce water consumption in the hotel industry without compromising the guest experience.

Hotel management’s assessment

Positive response from Comwell Hotel

The management at Comwell Hotel expressed enthusiasm for the solution and highlighted both the elegant design and the opportunity to engage guests through visible data on water consumption.

For hotels, this type of solution can be relevant because it not only reduces resource consumption, but can also make sustainability more concrete and visible to guests.

Documented savings

The figures from the Comwell case

Based on data on water and energy consumption, the expected minimum savings have been calculated per room. The calculation takes into account the hotel’s occupancy rate and the average number of guests per room.

At Comwell, the calculation shows annual savings per room of:

0

liters of water per room / year

0

m³ of natural gas per room / year

0

kg CO₂ per room / year

0

DKK per room / year

Strengthen the positive environmental impact

Savings in the hotel industry

A hotel can achieve significant financial benefits while reducing its environmental impact. When water and energy consumption are reduced in guest rooms, it can contribute to lower operating costs and a smaller climate footprint.

At the same time, a documentable sustainable shower solution can strengthen the hotel’s position towards environmentally conscious guests, partners, and investors.

ESG and long-term value

Positive contribution to ESG reporting

The documented savings from Flow Loop can contribute positively to the hotel’s ESG reporting and support the work with more sustainable operation.

For hotels working strategically with resource consumption, CO₂ reduction, and green transition, Flow Loop can be a concrete initiative that affects both daily operation and long-term sustainability efforts.

Documented in several environments

A clear conscience in the shower

Over the years, Flow Loop’s circular shower system has been tested in different environments — from large companies and hotels to boarding schools.

The experience shows that Flow Loop can be integrated into professional shower facilities where both user experience and resource consumption are highly important. Today, the LOOP shower is used, among other places, in shower facilities at major companies that want to reduce their environmental footprint.
