Innovative shower solution tested at Comwell Hotel

At Comwell Hotel, Flow Loop had the opportunity to test its groundbreaking water-saving shower solution in a real-world hotel environment. Over 14 months, two prototype units were installed in selected guest rooms to evaluate their performance, user experience, and maintenance requirements. Throughout and after the project, interviews were conducted with hotel staff, including Hotel Director Peter Feddersen and employees from the cleaning and front desk teams. These interviews provided valuable insights into how the system performed from both a guest and operational perspective, shedding light on user satisfaction, ease of maintenance, and overall impact on the hotel’s day-to-day workflows.

Combine sustainability with great guest experience

The pilot project aimed to combine sustainability with an exceptional guest experience. Guests were encouraged to try the showers and share their feedback, while the hotel staff was provided insights into daily maintenance and technical operations.

Results

Results from the test highlighted the ease of installation and operation, with the showers seamlessly integrating into the hotel’s existing infrastructure.

Guests appreciated the intuitive design and sustainable concept, while cleaning staff found the maintenance process simple and manageable. The project demonstrated the system’s reliability and potential for reducing water consumption in hospitality settings.

Enthusiasm

Comwell Hotel’s management expressed enthusiasm for the solution, noting its elegant design and the opportunity to engage guests by showcasing water usage data.

Savings from implementing the LOOP shower in hotel rooms

Based on data regarding water and energy consumption, we calculated the minimum savings this hotel would expect per room, considering the projected occupancy rate and average number of guests per room.

At Comwell, the annual savings achieved per room amounted to:

Water savings: approximately 29,000 liters/per year
Energy savings: around 89 m³ of natural gas/per year
CO₂ reduction: roughly 240 kg/per year
Financial savings: nearly EUR 270/per year

Enhance positive environmental impact

A hotel can achieve significant financial benefits while enhancing its environmental impact.
